The United Building
1 South Main Street • Akron, Ohio
Built 1923, Restored 2000 • 54,000 Square Feet
The eight-story United Building, built in a Neo-Classic Revival style, was deemed the “first fireproof skyscraper” in Akron. Vacant for more than 28 years, the Everett Group invested $3.6mm to resurrect this local treasure. It’s now a state-of-the-art telecommunication hub housing WKYC TV 3 News Bureau, WKSU and NPR. The United Building also is home for the Austen BioInnovation Institute and numerous professional firms who enjoy direct access to the parking garage and prominent vistas. An adjacent parcel can accommodate additional space – up to 8,500 square feet per floor.
